That Shit Cray

Picture it November 27th, 2011, the moment I had been waiting months for. My girl Evan and I were going on our mini road trip to Pittsburgh to see our idols Jay- Z and Kanye West for their WATCH THE THRONE TOUR. This album has been a constant soundtrack for me since the past summer. Words can’t even describe how excited I was for this day to finally come. Evan arrived in Buffalo early that morning and we hit the road for the 3.5 hour drive. When we arrived in the burgh it was dead near the arena area and rainy and gloomy, not what we expected. Finally I got ahold of one of my friends that is familiar with the area and she sent us to E. Carson St. where there were actually people and local restaurants. We attended Local Restaurant for lunch and it was delicious. Good Pick Christina! We walked around and went into lots of cute shops that were in the area and explored until show time. Then finally it was time to head to the Consol Energy Center (the arena). Outside waiting for doors to open, so many people wanted to take pictures with Evan and I because they loved our shirts that we had custom made (above pic). Doors opened, and we got settled finding our seats, grabbing some beers and grub and patiently awaiting our two favorite rap sensations. We hit up the merchandise table and bought t-shirts of Jay’s face morphed into a sabre tooth tiger. Sick! There was no opener and the ticket said 7:30 pm, then finally at 9:00 pm the two were on stage opening up with the hit song H.A.M. The crowd of thousands went nuts and it was unreal. They sang almost all of the Watch The Throne album as well as all of their main hits. I mean everything from Jay-Z’s PSA and Jigga what Jigga who to Yeezy’s Touch the SkyHeartless and Gold Digger. Their stage presence was amazing and it truly looked like they were having a blast. The stage was formed into the shape of a cross and there was the main stage as well as two cube stages that rose up like the twin towers, so at times they were both at face level with those in the 300s of the arena. Sharks effects filled the cubes up as well as jungle animals in slow motion. At times I had to sit back in my seat just to look on to the stage and take it all in from the lighting, effects, Kanye’s kilt and Jay’s infamous Yankee hat. They ended the show with the huge hit “Niggas in Paris” and just when the crowd thought it was over, they came back on and performed “Niggas in Paris” 5 MORE TIMES FOR THE ENCORE!!! IT WAS PURE MADNESS!!! Every time they played it again, people were excited like it was the first time they were hearing it and the atmosphere was nuts. The graciously thanked us all for coming out and exited the stage. Evan and I left the concert with a pure energy high, listening to HOV and YE the whole way back to Buffalo that night.
